Braid Hills House Extension
Set in the elevated landscape of the Braids, this 1920s home enjoys sweeping 270-degree views across the Pentland Hills, Edinburgh skyline, the Firth of Forth, and on to Fife. However, the original house turned its back on this extraordinary setting.
Our design introduces a bold yet sensitive two-storey extension that opens the house to its surroundings. Generous new living spaces and a principal bedroom suite are arranged to make the most of the outlook, light, and connection to the garden.

Carefully proportioned and detailed, and using a restrained pallet of materials including bronze zinc, render and clay tiles, the contemporary addition sits comfortably alongside the existing house — respecting its character while offering a fresh, modern language. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, crafted to enhance daily life and celebrate the site’s exceptional views.
