New Build House, Colinton, Edinburgh

Set in mature grounds in the heart of the Colinton’s Conservation Area, Villa Zone, Jefcoate Anderson Architects were appointed by our Client to design a large, six-bedroom, two and a half storey family home.

Entered via an arched portico, the accommodation is organised around a glazed, double height entrance hall. A curved hardwood stair with frameless glass balustrade leads up to a first-floor gallery overlooking the hall below. 

In addition to the six bedrooms and living areas, the house comprises an indoor swimming pool, cinema room, library, home gym and snooker room.

Our Clients’ preference was for a more traditional design, and we adopted a number of architectural features and forms typical of the early 20^th century villas within the conservation area, including white rendered walls punctuated with sandstone features, steeply pitched clay tile roofs, and feature chimneys.
