Renovation and Remodelling of New Town Garden Flat, Edinburgh
Jefcoate Anderson Architects was appointed to undertake the renovation and remodelling of this Category B listed garden flat on Dundas Street, in the heart of Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town.Â
Originally constructed in the 1800’s, the property was in a very poor state of repair with both damp and wet rot issues and we were required to strip the interior back to the original stonework, and replace the timber floors with insulated, heated, solid floors throughout. Only the bedroom fireplace was retained.
A traditional aesthetic has been applied throughout, in keeping with the period of the property. Details of decorative skirtings, facings, bespoke dado panels, plaster mouldings and ironmongery were all carefully considered and new doors, windows and shutters were manufactured locally.
New leaded glass panels were locally commissioned for the vestibule door and traditional fanlight above the front door.
Reproduction Regency era wallpaper features in the master bedroom and dining room, complementing the traditional Georgian paint colours.
