Contemporary Extension, West Linton, Scottish Borders
Our clients had requested we provide a replacement kitchen and dining room extension to the rear of their existing home. Their old kitchen was cold and damp and had no views or connection to the garden.
Jefcoate Anderson Architects’ design solution makes the most of these views and the southerly aspect. Large areas of high efficiency glazing provide ample passive solar gain on clear days. The multi-fuel stove supplements new underfloor heating to provide a warm, light and cosy family kitchen.
Cues were taken from the existing building such as the black painted timber details, and these were referenced in the new extension roof. We have been contacted by our clients on sunny winter days to inform us the solar gain from the extension is helping to keep the older part of the house warm.
Our clients are delighted.
